🧠 About Neuro-Affirming Nutrition Care
This is a space where sensory needs, emotional needs, and different ways of thinking are respected.
Whether you have a diagnosis or not, you’re welcome to explore Nutrition and Wellness support that honours your pace, preferences, and lived experience.
What does “neuro-affirming” mean in a nutrition context?
A neuro-affirming approach is a way of supporting individuals neurodiversity as natural variations of the human experience (rather than deficits or something that needs to be fixed). Its rooted in that all neurotypes e.g. adhd, autism, dyslexia and more, have unique strenghts and ways of engaging with the world.
At Yasmina Louise Nutrition this means that we follow 5 core principles:
-
Respect all neurotypes
-
Use a strengths-based mindset - we focus on what you can do or are willing to work on.
-
Environmental adaptations - we change the environment to fit the persons needs, instead of changing the person.
-
Self-advocacy and autonomy - Support people in making choices and expressing their needs.
-
Supports safe expression of Identity - We aspire to create a space where you can feel safe to unmask and show your neurodivergent traits
Through our support we aim to:
-
Encourage therapeutic alliance e.g we work as a team towards your goals
-
Use Identity-first language if preferred
-
Validate stimming and sensory needs
I struggle with meal planning and overwhelm. Can you help with that?
Yes, absolutely. This is a common experience, and it’s something we can explore together.
My approach offers support that’s flexible, and tailored to your needs. Whether that’s navigating decision fatigue, executive dysfunction challenges, managing fluctuating energy levels, finding joy and ease in food prep or something else. We can find strategies that suit your lifestyle.
Do I need a neurodivergent diagnosis to benefit from your approach?
Not at all. Whether you have a formal diagnosis, suspect you might be neurodivergent, or simply feel aligned with an inclusive, flexible approach - Yasmina Louise Nutrition is for you.
My work supports anyone who wants to explore their relationship with food and body in a space that feels safe, respectful, and personalised.
Your lived experience matters far more than labels.
You're welcome here, exactly as you are.
🍽️ Intuitive Eating & Body Image
Food and body trust take time and care.
This section offers guidance on intuitive eating, body image healing, and building a relationship with food that’s rooted in self-compassion, respect, and emotional safety.
What is intuitive eating?
Intuitive eating is a flexible, non-diet approach to nourishment that helps you move away from rigid food rules, shame-based thinking, and external control. Instead of following strict plans or chasing “perfect” eating, it invites you to explore food in ways that feel safe, satisfying, and aligned with your needs.
This approach is centered around self-compassion, body acceptance, and emotional wellbeing. It encourages curiosity over judgment and supports you in building a kinder, more respectful relationship with food and your body.
Is intuitive eating suitable for Autistic or ADHD individuals who eat differently?
Absolutely. You may have heard that intuitive eating “doesn’t work” for ADHD or Autistic individuals or other individuals with other neurodivergent diagnoses due to differences in body cue awareness and food relationships. But that’s only part of the story.
If intuitive eating is applied rigidly, expecting a neurotypical experience, it can feel uncomfortable or even inaccessible. That’s why my approach prioritises emotional safety, flexibility, and compassion.
I validate that some bodies and brains experience eating differently, and that’s not something to fix, it’s something to honour. When we work together, everything is tailored to your experience and I will adapt it so it works with you.
So yes, intuitive eating can work. It just needs to meet you where you are.
Can intuitive eating work for people who feel disconnected from hunger cues?
Yes, there are different strategies we can put in place to work around/with your disconnected cues.
How do you support clients in healing their relationship with food and their bodies?
We move at your pace. I support you through reflective conversations, guided exercises, and activities that help you explore your current patterns and food-body relationship.
Is weight loss ever a goal in your programs?
No. I don’t use weight as a measure of progress for health or well-being. We focus on nourishment, care, and body trust - no matter your shape or size.
🌈 Trauma-Informed & Inclusive Practice
Care that honours your story.
This practice is trauma-informed, inclusive, and rooted in respect for every body and lived experience. You’ll find support that centres consent, safety, and collaboration, without assumptions or judgment.
What makes your approach trauma-informed?
At Yasmina Louise Nutrition, trauma-informed care isn’t just a philosophy, it’s a part of how we work together. I follow the five core principles of trauma-informed practice: Safety, Trust, Choice, Collaboration, and Empowerment.
- Safety – I aim to create an emotionally safe space where you can show up just as you are. Sessions are paced at your speed with clear boundaries and no pressure.
-
Trust – I build trust through transparency and consistency. You’ll always know what to expect, and I’ll explain what we’re doing and why.
-
Choice – You’re in control at every step. All activities and tools are optional, and we can pause, opt out, or adapt anything to meet your comfort level.
-
Collaboration – Our work is collaborative. Your preferences, feedback, and lived experience shape our direction. I’ll never assume what’s best for you without asking.
-
Empowerment – I support you in reclaiming agency, confidence, and body trust. Together, we build strategies that align with your strengths and personality.
How do you ensure your services are inclusive and body-affirming?
At Yasmina Louise Nutrition, I actively reject diet culture and shame-based narratives. My work is evidence-based and rooted in the belief that all bodies of every size, shape, identity, and ability deserve respect, care, and nourishment.
I use affirming language, and adapt tools and strategies to honour your lived experience. That means:
-
NO weigh-ins or body measurements
-
NO food moralising
-
NO negative body talk
-
NO assumptions about your goals
And most importantly of all: NO one-size-fits-all.
Every sessions is centered around emotional safety and autonomy which means that you’re always in control, and your identity, preferences, and boundaries will be respected without question.
Whether you’re neurodivergent, LGBTQ+, disabled, or simply tired of being judged by your body, I'm here to offer support that meets you where you are!
How is your practice weight-inclusive?
My practice is rooted in weight inclusivity, meaning all bodies are welcomed, respected, and supported, without assumptions or pressure to change size. I reject weight-centric approaches and instead focus on wellbeing, autonomy, and compassionate care.
This means:
-
Respecting body diversity and rejecting weight stigma
-
Supporting health-promoting behaviours without tying them to weight loss
-
Offering flexible, individualised nutrition care that prioritises emotional and sensory safety
-
Encouraging joyful movement and self-care, not punishment or control
-
Providing respectful, trauma-informed support that honours lived experience
You won’t be asked to pursue weight loss, follow restrictive plans, or justify your body. Instead, we’ll explore nourishment, body trust, and wellbeing, on your terms.
Is your practice LGBTQ+ friendly?
Yes. My services are fully inclusive and affirming of all genders, sexualities, and identities.
Will I feel safe discussing my food history or past experiences with you?
At Yasmina Louise Nutrition, emotional safety is a core part of our work. I aim to make you feel as comfortable as possible, always with full consent and choice. You’re welcome to share at your own pace, and I’ll never ask you to do anything without checking in first. You can pause, opt out, or shift focus at any time.
Your experiences matter and they’ll always be met with care, respect, and autonomy.
Can I opt out of any parts of your program that feel overwhelming?
Of course. Everything we do together is optional and fully consensual. I’ll never ask you to do anything that feels uncomfortable, and you’re always free to opt out, pause, or adjust the pace. Your voice and autonomy are central in every step of our work.
💡 Practical Info & Working Together
Let’s make things clear and doable.
Abit about the sessions and what is expected of you.
Where do sessions take place?
All sessions are offered online via a secure platform. You can join from wherever feels safe and comfortable to you. All you need is a mobile device, Ipad, laptop or similar that can connect with ZOOM.
I recommend sitting in a private place without any disturbances.
What happens after I have booked my Foundations Session?
Once your session is confirmed, I’ll send over a welcome pack with everything you need. This includes access to the online Zoom meeting, any pre-session forms you need to fill out before the session, and information about what to expect.
Will I be expected to follow a specific diet or plan?
No. I don’t offer restrictive diets or meal plans. Instead, we’ll collaboratively create strategies that support nourishment, sensory needs, and your lifestyle. You can read more about my approach HERE.
Will I have homework or things to complete between sessions?
It depends entirely on you. If it feels helpful, I’ll offer exercises, reflections, or activities to support your progress and make the most of your time working with me. These are designed to be helpful and insightful, not overwhelming.
Everything is paced according to your capacity. There might be times when I suggest something and you don’t have the time or energy to explore it and that’s okay.
You’re never expected to push beyond what feels manageable.
Do you offer a discovery call?
I don’t offer separate discovery calls. Instead, we jump straight into a Foundations Session designed to explore your goals and give you an actionable plan from the very start
This session gives you a chance to explore how we might work together, without pressure or expectation.
You’re welcome to use it as a standalone experience or as the beginning of ongoing support, depending on what feels right for you.
If you’re unsure, I’m happy to answer questions by email before booking. You can get in touch via the contact page HERE.
Do you offer payment plans
Not at the moment, as I'm keeping things simple while I build. That said, I’d love to know if a payment plan would make things more accessible for you. Please send me a message via the contact form HERE to share your preferences. Your feedback helps me shape future options.
🛡️ Safeguarding & Scope of Practice
Safe, ethical care rooted in trust.
My practice is guided by professional standards and ethical frameworks that prioritise client safety, autonomy, and informed choice. As a Registered Associate Nutritionist and Certified Intuitive Eating Counsellor, I work within my scope to support nutrition-related wellbeing. Not to diagnose, treat, or manage medical conditions.
I collaborate when appropriate and always signpost with care, especially when needs extend beyond my remit. You’ll be met with honesty, boundaries, and respect at every step.
Do you support clients with eating disorders?
My work is not suitable for anyone currently experiencing or suspecting they may be experiencing an eating disorder. Eating disorders are serious mental health conditions that require specialist care. I’m not trained to provide that kind of clinical support, and it's essential that you get help from someone who is.
You can read more about eating disorders and the different types HERE
What should I do if I think I have an eating disorder?
What happens if signs of an eating disorder appear during our work together?
If I suspect that you may be experiencing an eating disorder while we’re working together, I will pause our sessions and refer you to specialist support. Continuing our work wouldn’t be safe or appropriate, and this boundary helps protect both your wellbeing and my professional integrity .
Why do you have these boundaries?
It’s part of my ethical practice. As an AfN Registered Associate Nutritionist, I prioritise emotional safety, clarity, and the integrity of my scope. It’s essential that you receive the right kind of support from people trained to help in the correct way.
